  • We meet every Sunday at Big River Coffee to work on the Jazz Auction and all are welcome to join us and help out. We meet from 10am - 12pm.

  • We have received a ton of donations for this year's auction.

  • If anybody has any extra wine in your house that you want to donate, we're going to do a wine pool for the event as well.

  • We are now in March and the price has gone up to $60 a ticket, $75 if you want it with two drinks, which is wine, beer, or cider.

  • Bandwidth Fun Run, May 17th. It is a 5K run. This is our 2nd annual run. Location is South Hillsboro, and there's stations where our bands are playing different music as we go along. And we also do a 1K race. If you don't wanna do the full 5K, you can do a one mile. The next even

  • April 1st our flower basket sales begin. If we don’t have good participation we will have to cancel this moving forward. This is a money maker for the students so they will not get a point for this.

  • 80% of the profit goes into your students account.

  • Can drive on this Saturday 3/15 from 9am to 1pm. If your student is performing on Saturday you can bring in 5 tall garbage bags full of cans and your student will get a point.

  • We are close to the end of the points for this year. To go to camp there is no charge if your student has 10 points. 5-9 points cost $75. 4 or less points the cost is $150.

  • June 1st Blue Ox axe throwing night. Parents only. We have the entire venue. 2 hours from 5pm -7pm. Tickets go on sale soon.

  • If you student needs band shoes let me know ASAP.

  • I did sizing for A percussion tonight for their uniforms. If you haven’t paid for those yet, please do.

If you haven’t turned in your hours yet, please do. We have 15 families that have hundreds of hours. If you have questions please reach out to me.

  • Volunteer approved status updates. Just remember when you get that email from HSD to do your updates. Every two years you have to renew.

  • March and April sign-ups, There is an 8th period Sound Lab. This is easy. You can bring a book or knitting. It's an amazing lab, and you just get to sit there with the students.

  • Props and percussion, building away

  • This weekend we have Percussion Open going to WGI in Monmouth Saturday 3/15. We need help with serving food and we have to do that in the parking lot as WGI rules do not allow outside food in. Jim Dunlop

  • We need to discuss feeding the students. As said before If we can’t get the helpers we have to cancel it. While we need helpers to serve we also need to discuss the budget. We have 2 conflicting budget people. You have the captains running the programs. They get a chunk of money and have to do everything with that. They don’t necessarily put enough money for food. Then we have the food committee trying to be conscious of that budget but it doesn’t always work. I’d like to propose that we separate that a bit. It has become a big thing to feed the students. We want to feed them. I think the budget should come from the people who are eating. The food committee needs to say this is how much we need. We need the parents to be a part of this. So today, we wanna just get together and finish the season. And long-term, I think we need to separate it a little bit and make it two things.

  • We should start with some celebrations.

  • First of all, this is last Saturday, we had 14 people at Solo Ensemble that either qualified for state or alternates for state. Andreas Herrera was first in the district and qualified for state. Kristin Ball was second in the district, and qualified for state.

  • Elena Vito was second place and qualified for state. Georgine Takara was second place and was in the alternate for state. The percussion ensemble number five, we call them, is an alternate for state. Brian Jones is an alternate for state, he is in 3rd place which he made in an alternate for state.

  • Our winter guard took first place at the WGI Northwest Regional. I think that's the first time we've ever won the WGI at that division. They also went to San Diego, and were finalists in the Northern California WGI circuit, which is a vicious.

  • The JV guard also, we call them the A guard, took first at their competition.

  •  Right now, our... A guard is in first place if you look at the stats, and our open guard is in first place if you look at the stats.

  • Our percussion is one of only four open groups in the whole Northwest. They won't win their division, it's very ambitious, but they're doing great.

  • This weekend the guard is meeting here at 8:30am and the drum line is meeting here at 9am and we'll send those schedules out.

  • March 18th, at 7pm, which is next Tuesday, is our big cluster concert. That does include the percussionists, they are either subbing in groups or helping with logistics and moving equipment, et cetera.

  • March the 21st we are doing the assembly at Brown with the drum line and the colorguard. We will meet at Brown before school, 7:30am.

  • March 22nd, we have two things. The Jazz one is kind of the new addition. We were lucky to get a spot in the festival. We will leave at 9am. They'll be done by 9pm, and they'll be back about 11:30pm,

  • For the drum line, because they get done later and they have a lot of equipment, we've decided to turn that into our overnight trip, and they're gonna stay at the Great Wolf Lodge that Saturday night after the performance. We will leave at 9am and they will get back on Sunday around 1pm.

  • March 29 is the Guard Championship's at Liberty.

  • April 4 the Wind Ensemble is going to Western Oregon for a competition. This is during the school day. We will get back around 5:30pm.

  • April 5th, the drum line has their championships at Sherwood.

  • April the 7th, at 6:30pm which is a Monday night, we will have our Friends and Family show night. There is no charge for this one. It is the Percussion groups and the Winterguard groups.

  • April 8th is our district league, Wind Ensemble. This is during the day. We won’t get back until approximately 5:30pm.

  •  April 10th, Nathan Caranto's going to do his senior project is to do a jazz concert. He needs all the jazz students for his jazz concert. We will have several guests also. Mr. Carr from Brown's going to come over and do something with us, and Mr. Faulkner from Hill Hi going to do something. These are teachers that have worked with Nathan. Nathan's dad is in a jazz group, and they're going to come over and do something with us.  Nathan's grandfather is also a professional musician,he's going to come over and do a couple of things at the show. We are going to charge $10

  • April 11th and 12th is Camp Rylea, that's our parade camp. It is a military camp on the beach. We want to invite the eighth graders to that, and I'll send a letter out to them this week that basically says if they come to the camp, if they come to the practices, we will charge them the half price cost, $75.

  • April 16th and 19th the jazz band is going to the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho, at the University of Idaho. And that's Wednesday, Thursday, Friday coming home on Saturday. The University has an activity waiver they need filled out. We have sent it out a couple of times.

  • April 26th is our Jags and jazz auction.

  • April 29th is a parade practice from 6pm - 8p.

  • May 2nd is when we go out in the neighborhood and play music and wish people well.

  • May 6th is a parade practice from 6pm to 8pm.

  • May 9th is Jazz State, if we get accepted into state, which we've qualified every single time we've played this year. We haven't won yet, so we're not automatically in it, but we feel good about our chances

  • May 10th is the St. John's parade.

  • May 15th is the Chomp concert.

  • May 17th is our 5K bandwidth run in South Hillsboro.

  • May 19th is a percussion gala.

  • May 22nd is the parade practice. 4pm -7pm

  • May 27th is our concert and awards night.

  • May 30th is our Louie Louie World Record Day. Charge is $15 for that. The one more time around we'll be there. If you want to join then once you register and pay, you will be given the music to practice.

  • June 4th is graduation. We have all the concert bands, symphonic bands, and wind ensemble.

  • June 5th is our last parade practice. 4pm - 7pm. No seniors, they will be tired so we want them to rest and join us on June 7th.

  • June 7th is the Rose Parade.

  • June 9th, 10th, and 11th are Colorguard Try It Out.

  • July 4th is the 4th of July parade. If you're if your family is going somewhere, then we get that. If you're in town, we need them.

 Kristen Keezel

  • We have settled on a 2026 trip. We are going to Washington, D.C. Don't have official dates yet. One of the days will be the 4th of July. We're looking at six days, five nights. I would say the final cost will be between $2500 and $3000. Payments will have a schedule, you will pay through the treasurer. It's going to be historical. It's also going to be fun.

Elizabeth Martinez

  • Our sign-ups for March and April are done. I've turned them in. Our next deadline is March 31st, and that's for May. I have over a thousand positions open. I've got Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays. And if you want to be a dishwasher, they'll take you on Tuesdays and Thursdays, too. Any day you want, just ask. We'll check on it. We'll get you in. If there's one person, they'll fit you in. If you really like one place, they'll fit you in. If you want to learn to be a cook, they'll teach you. And then you even earn more if you want to do that. I posted the link on the band app. So anybody's welcome.

  • If you weren't part of the 30 to 32 people who said you were interested already, let me know. concessions@centuryband.org.  I will be resending the sign-up sheet in the next week to remind you that May is the next deadline.

  • But I have all of the dates listed in the sign-up. So go sign up. As many as you can get, we have priority because we have said we will do Wednesday. We get priority scheduling, I turn it in, they said thank you, we're all set, so go for it.

Jeff Snively

  • We will be taking nominations for all board positions, April 8th, all board positions are available, if you want to run. In May, we'll vote on that.

  • May-June, we need to do a budget vote for the board, so we have money next year to do stuff.

  • If anybody has any money left for their seniors that are leaving, let Jason know if you want to pass it on to another student, or we're even trying to get people to turn it in for the scholarships.
