Treasurer
Monthly Statements - They are confusing they only go back 60 days. They don’t show the entire amount or the entire fiscal year. I believe I’ve found a way to send that out so it’s much more clear. It will say Invoice amount, Invoice amount paid and it's a lot easier to understand.Â
Overpayments - If you have a fair share amount for $150 and you pay $160 that $10 is an overpayment and I can’t apply that to the next invoice without you telling me to do that. There are students where the parents are not together. Not knowing which parent the $10 belongs to. Overpayment can be returned.Â
Credits is the amount your student makes from pies, flowers, hops, ETC. This is money that can’t be returned.
Checks Doing much better. They do need to be written to Century Band Boosters. On the website under treasurers notes breaks it down like steps 1 - 5 on what checks need to look like.Â
Showcase detail $25,649 plus $1,700 We did well even with the wacky ending with the rain.Â
Putting out a statement with expenses and things like that but with that I wanted to thank Tom Thaxton. He has been a huge help and taxes will be filed by the 15th.Â
Fundraising
Jazz Auction April 26th at Hidden Creek in Hillsboro. Tickets go on sale early January for $55.00. Beginning in March $60.00. At the door $65.00. The goal is to sell 100 tickets. Last year we sold 75, years before that we never got over 52. We have our own phenomenal parents cooking for us and they are doing a New Orleans Southern style menu. We are starting to build the baskets now the students have meetings on Wednesday afternoons and they will come up with ideas. We are putting together an Jazz Auction Team and if you’d like to be on the team please contact Christina Saribay at fundraising@centuryband.orgÂ
Pie sales. Pick up is Nov 15th. Pick up at 3:30 at the school.Â
Upcoming Can Drives. Dec. 14, Jan. 11th, Feb. 8th, March 15th, April 19th and May 3rd. These are on the Calendar. Â
One More Time Around Band would like to come back and host for us. We did this as a fundraiser last year and made several thousand dollars. Looking at May 30th.Â
Fun Run being worked on and we do need city approval. We are looking at May for this as well.Â
Fred Meyer reward card. You can designate Century High School.Â
Uniforms and apparel
For those of you who ordered show shirts there will be emails in the next week for those.Â
We are washing all uniforms and rain jackets so uniforms will be clean and fresh for the next use. We do have many rain jackets and they don’t take a special washer. If you're interested, check with me after the meeting.Â
Formal wear. I emailed all parents and had some bounced emails and no replies. I am finding lots of students who said they didn’t have formal wear. It is a specific tux style shirt we want. It is $16 plus shipping for me to order. It is a reasonable price. This is for any student in Wind Ensemble and Symphonic band. If you have not spoke to me and you are wondering please let me know. It looks like I have a 3rd order going out. It takes about 4 weeks to come in. Concert in December.Â
We have some show sweatshirts left over and we will be selling them on the website.Â
Volunteering
A huge huge thank you as I look across the room I think I’ve seen everyone of you doing all sorts of jobs. Supporting our band. Hooray. We have 3,838.8 reported volunteer hours this year already. This isn’t everyone so please submit your volunteer hours.Â
I apologize for the October google form that took 3 tries to get it out correctly.Â
Completed volunteer status please submit to me. We have 101 individuals that have sent in their fully cleared status. 153 more that could potentially be cleared.Â
Things this week: dishes to wash.Â

Food meeting for winter.

Mr. Dunlop
What a great Fall season we had. I never really care about scores. We work hard but we don’t always design our show for scoring. We had 4 giant skeletons and they were not in a straight line and uneven spacing. It isn’t a concern for me. I’ll tell you what I look at for success. We grow throughout the season. Student coming and asking, Can I still get in? That is an indicator of how much fun our students are having. We have students marching in college bands. Our students work very hard.Â
All night party. It starts at 7pm and goes until 6am. This year we will be going to the bowling alley for a couple of hours to get off campus. It costs fundraiser points to go. This year it is 5 points to go to the all night party. We are looking at 8th graders and incoming 9th graders as they didn’t have the full opportunities as the older students. They may be able to come to the all nighter for less points. We will let you know. We are adding a parent to the student booster meeting so we have more communication with the students.Â
This year is an off trip year. The whole band isn’t going anywhere. The smaller groups are going somewhere. Jazz band is trying to go to New York for the Ellington Jazz Festival. No Oregon band has ever qualified and we can only take one group and we are working very hard to qualify. They take only 20 bands from the whole nation and 5 international. Whoever is on the audition tape are the only one who can perform. We can’t substitute. We have to have commitments for this. Same as the varsity guard. We are working on this and will let you know as we learn more information.Â
Jazz Bands. We have 2. One O’Clock band. We name this after North Texas as they have the finest band. The Silver Jazz Band. The One O’Clock Jazz band is going to start practicing at 7:15am. Silver Jazz Band will start at 7:35am on the stage. This is the start time so they should get here earlier so they are on time to start. Mr. Dunlop always gets to school at 6:45am.
Colorguard. We are still working with the district on practice spaces for Varsity.Â
JV Colorguard will be practicing at Brown.Â
